A Guide to the Perfect Baby’s First Birthday Photo Shoot
I thought it would be helpful to put together a guide for a baby’s first birthday photo shoot. The first birthday is an incredible milestone for both parents and the little one. It marks a year of growth, development and unforgettable moments. One of the best ways to preserve these precious memories is by having a professional photo shoot to capture the joy of this special occasion.
WHY IS A BABY’S FIRST BIRTHDAY PHOTO SHOOT SPECIAL?
The first birthday is a monumental event in a child’s life. From the baby’s first smile to the joy of watching them explore the world around them, every moment is precious. A first birthday photo shoot helps document these milestones so you can look back on them for years to come. It’s also a fantastic way to share these memories with friends and family through prints, albums, or social media.
1. Choose the Right Time
The timing of the photo shoot is crucial, especially for a one-year-old who might have specific sleep and feeding schedules. Remember at this age they tire quickly. The best time for a first birthday shoot is usually after the baby has had a nap and a meal. Avoid scheduling the session during their usual naptime, as it could make them a bit fussy.
2. Plain is best
I fully believe that a plain photoshoot is best as it allows for the character of the one year old to shine through. I tend to avoid balloon arches and so forth because I believe this detracts. A great way to celebrate is with a plain buttercream cake on a wooden cake stand. This looks timeless and classy.
3. Choose the Right Outfits
Outfits for a first birthday photo shoot should be adorable yet comfortable for your baby. Choose clothing that reflects the theme or colour scheme you’ve selected. I recommend a dress for a little girl and shirt and trousers for a little boy. Dungarees always look adorable. Other than that a cute T-shirt and shorts always works well.
5. Props to Enhance the Photos
Less is more when it comes to props – A single balloon always looks lovely, and of course if bringing a cake then a wooden spoon which has been engraved with the date of the first birthday is lovely in the photographs and also lovely to keep.
